Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced on Monday the appointment of Mrs. Larissa Weir as assistant principal of Riverside School, effective immediately.
Weir will be working alongside Principal Mary Dolan Collette, who was named to the position after three years as the school’s assistant principal.
“Greenwich Public Schools continues to attract the best educators and administrators the region has to offer,” Dr. Jones said in a release on Monday.
“Mrs. Larissa Weir’s strong education background and passion for student-centered intervention is very impressive and will be a perfect fit for Riverside School. Not only is she a very talented math and science educator, but her experience as an interventionist and building level support, to help all students find success, will be a major asset. This past year, she partnered closely with primary teachers to successfully roll out and implement a new academic curriculum.”
Mrs. Weir comes to Greenwich Schools from Stamford Public Schools where she most recently served as the interim assistant principal at Julia A. Stark Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year.
Prior to this position, she was at Stamford’s Westover Magnet School, first as the teacher leader for student support, and then multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) coach. Her extensive experience in education dates back 15 years where she was a seventh and eighth grade science teacher at New Haven Public Schools’ Roberto Clemente Leadership Academy as a Teach for America Connecticut corps member; and magnet resource teacher and math coach at New Haven’s John S. Martinez Sea & Sky STEM Magnet School.
“Driven by a passion for educational equity and student-centered leadership, I join the Riverside community dedicated to the growth of every child,” Weir said. “Working alongside Principal Dolan Collette, my goal is to foster collaborative partnerships with our teachers and families that empower every Red Hawk to thrive. My priority is ensuring our school remains a safe, vibrant space of academic excellence for all students.”
“Mrs. Weir brings a wealth of experience to our school having served as a classroom teacher, MTSS coordinator, and interim assistant principal,” Ms. Dolan Collette said. “She is committed to maintaining high expectations for all students while fostering a strong culture of belonging, and I know her enthusiasm and expertise will be a tremendous asset to our school community.”
Weir earned a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Gerontology from Miami (Ohio) University and a master’s in Teacher Leadership and sixth-year diploma in Educational Leadership from Quinnipiac University.
