If you’re looking to make a year-end gift that will make a difference locally, consider donating to the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation Scholarship Fund and support a child in need.
If you’re looking for an alternative gift this holiday season, consider donating to the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation Scholarship Fund and support a child in need.
The Greenwich Parks & Recreation Scholarship Fund provides Greenwich’s youth access to recreational programs. Through the Scholarship Fund, income-eligible families will have exposure to positive experiences and active lifestyles, as well as opportunities to gain and refine life skills through our recreational programs.
“The goal of the Scholarship Fund is to ensure every child who wants to participate in one of our programs can,” said Scott Johnson, Chair of the Board of Parks & Recreation. “Every kid deserves an opportunity to participate in camp and other recreational programming, and fundraising in the winter allows the Parks & Recreation Department time to determine the scholarships to distribute by early spring, giving recipients time to register for generally in-demand programs like camps and sports programs.”
The Scholarship Fund is one of the primary focuses of the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation Foundation.
“Our goal is to make sure that the Scholarship Fund is sustainable over the years so we can continue to meet the financial needs of our community,” explained Johnson.
The Scholarship Fund is entirely supported through donations from local businesses, community service organizations, corporations, and individuals, and 100% of the contributions to this Fund go directly to support scholarships for Greenwich’s youth. Consider a donation in honor of or in memory of a loved one or a gift in a loved one’s name instead of sending a present.
The mission of the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation Department is to deliver high-quality leisure time opportunities through safe, well-organized, and affordable activity programs and special events.
The Parks & Recreation Department facilitates an array of leisure opportunities for all age groups that enhance Town residents’ physical, intellectual, social, and cultural growth and development. The department ensures reasonable access to all programs by bridging physical and economic gaps that could impede participation.
