Lace up those running shoes! The ninth annual Greenwich Alliance for Education’s Turkey Trot is scheduled for Saturday, November 30, 2019.
Join over 2,000 participants and spectators for the largest community event of the Thanksgiving weekend and help raise funds for Greenwich Public School programs.
Registrants can choose from either a 5K race or a non-competitive 1 mile run/walk. Both races begin and end at the Arch Street Teen Center at 100 Arch Street, and pace through the beautiful flat roads of Bruce Park. The Cadillac of Greenwich 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk starts at 9:30AM, followed by the HSS Stamford 5K at 10:00am.
Warm-up and stretching will be offered at 9:00am. Make sure to stop by the General Atlantic Hospitality Tent for delicious snacks after the race.
“The Turkey Trot gets bigger and better every year,” said Julie Faryniarz, Executive Director, Greenwich Alliance for Education. “We’re delighted to bring the community together each November to have fun while raising essential funds for Alliance programs that benefit Greenwich students beginning in preschool and continuing through college graduation.”
Registration, which is available online at www.greenwichalliance.org, costs $35 per adult and increases on race day to $40. For children 14 and younger the fee is $15. All proceeds from the Turkey Trot will directly benefit the Greenwich Alliance for Education’s programs. The Greenwich Alliance funds innovation, expands opportunities, and inspires teachers to foster educational success for Greenwich Public School students.
As an added benefit, the Alliance will hold its annual “Run For Your School Competition,” sponsored by Coldwell Banker Global Luxury. A $500 gift card for physical education purchases will be awarded to the Greenwich school with the greatest number of registered runners. The 2018 winner was Glenville School.
Performance material t-shirts and goody bags are guaranteed to runners who register by November 15.
Pre-registrants are encouraged to pick-up race materials – bibs, t-shirts, and goody bags – on Friday, November 29 at Cadillac of Greenwich, at 144 Railroad Avenue from 1:00-4:00pm. Race-day registration will take place inside the Arch Street Teen Center from 8:15-9:15am.
Awards and merchandise prizes, donated by Vineyard Vines, will be presented to the top three overall male and female 5K winners. The top three male and female finishers in 9 age categories, from 10-and-under to 70-plus also will receive awards donated by ASF Promotions. All 1-mile finishers will receive medals.
