Letter to the editor from Nancy Coughlin, Executive Director, Neighbor to Neighbor
On behalf of Neighbor to Neighbor, I would like to thank the community for participating in the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive and helping to alleviate hunger in Greenwich.
On Saturday, May 14 letter carriers from Greenwich, Cos Cob and Old Greenwich post offices collected over 30,000 lbs of nonperishable food donations along their routes and delivered them to Neighbor to Neighbor, Greenwich’s food pantry.
Our clients include seniors, those struggling to recover from a life-changing crisis, the working poor and more. Half those we feed are children, for whom we provide additional food during the summer months when they are home from school. With 17% of Greenwich residents living below the poverty line or working and still struggling to afford basic necessities, the need for our services in Greenwich is very real.
Thank you to every letter carrier and resident who made a difference in our community by donating.
For those who missed the chance to participate in Stamp Out Hunger, it is never too late to make a donation during Neighbor’s regular hours. Thank you!
Executive Director, Neighbor to Neighbor
