Greenwich Police Officer’s Sharp Eye Leads to Arrest of Wanted Man

A man familiar to Greenwich Police was arrested by warrant for Violation of Probation after police spotting him in a car being driven by someone else on Feb 20.

Police say around 8:50am they spotted Jonathan Verdan, 24, of Woodland Drive and conducted a motor vehicle stop without incident.

The original incident that related to the Probation Violation took place on Woodland Drive back on June 3, 2017 around 1:00am.

Verdan has a history of arrests by Greenwich Police.

In September 2018, Verdan was arrested for an alleged attack on a cab driver on Railroad Ave. Shortly after the incident police spotted Verdan dressed in black sweatpants and a black sweatshirt walking east on Bridge St. At the time they learned Verdan also had an outstanding warrant for Violation of Probation.

According to the CT Judicial Branch website, Verdan pleaded guilty of Evading Responsibility/Property Damage for an incident on June 29, 2016, guilty to Failure to Appear 2 for an incident on May 24, 2017, guilty to first Violation of Probation, a second Violation of Probation

His bond was set at $25,000 and Verdan has a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 6, 2020.
