Greenwich Man Faces Charges after Alleged Attack on Cab Driver on Railroad Ave

Around 2:00am Friday morning, numerous Greenwich Police units were detailed to Railroad Ave and Prospect Street on a report of a taxi driver claiming that a white man had attacked him on Railroad Ave.

Police dispatch further advised that the man left the scene and headed to the area of Prospect Street and Bridge Street.

The suspect, later identified as Jonathan Verdan, 23, of 30 Woodland Drive in Greenwich,  was spotted dressed in black sweatpants and a black sweatshirt walking east on Bridge St from the area of Prospect Rd.

Police learned Verdan had an active warrant for his arrest.

He also had an outstanding warrant for Violation of Probation for which bond was set at $20,000.

When police caught up with Verdan on Bridge Street, a search of his person turned up narcotics (Suboxone) and drug paraphernalia including needles, Q-tip and bottle cap.

Verdan was arrested and charged with Failure to Appear 2. For that charge his bond was set at $1,000 and he was assigned a court date in Stamford Superior Court on October 15, 2018.

He was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Illegal Possession. Bond for those charges was set at $500. For that he was assigned a court date on Oct 12 in Stamford Superior Court.
