Greenwich Man Arrested as Fugitive from Justice; Assault Rifles Seized in Search of Residence

On Friday Greenwich Police announced that members of their  Detective Division obtained reliable information indicating that Kristopher Chimblo, 36, was illegally in possession of at least one assault rifle.

A search warrant was obtained for his residence and executed on August 27.

Police said that during the search they discovered 4 assault rifles, 2 shotguns, 5 handguns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, dozens of magazines (regular and high capacity), and hundreds of gun parts utilized for building and altering firearms were located.

Some of the assault rifles had been converted into fully automatic weapons.

Subsequent to the findings of the search, an arrest warrant was issued for Chimblo for 53a-217 Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

Chimblo was located in Westchester and arrested as a fugitive from justice. He is being held in Westchester awaiting an extradition hearing.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted in conjunction with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and law enforcement agencies in both Connecticut and other states.
