“Enough is enough,” the group admin wrote, adding that the BNA planned to reach out to DPW with a request for traffic calming measures.
According to Greenwich Police Lt Tim Kelly, the crash on Friday resulted in a minor complaint of “pain to the knee” from one of the vehicles’ passengers.
He said the pole being knocked down was not attributed to speed because the poles are designed to sheer and break as opposed to remaining in place. This is a safety measure to prevent additional damage and injury in the event they are involved in a collision. Lt Kelly said this is why when a vehicle hits a tree it usually causes more damage and injury, especially with a large tree.
Kelly said one of the operators in Friday’s collision was cited for C.G.S 14-301, Failure to Obey Stop Sign.
The police report has yet to be completed. We will update the story when there is additional information.
On the BNA’s Facebook group page, there is a series of crash photos from the past year, one worse than the other. The admin for the group, Liz Eckert, who is the president of the Byram Neighborhood Association, said residents with accident photos, information or requests can forward them to [email protected] with “traffic calming” in the subject line for the BNA to share with DPW.
