On Monday around 10:15pm, Greenwich Police officers observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Delavan Ave in Byram well above the posted speed limit. Police said the vehicle then crossed over the double yellow center lines before traveling through a solid red light at the intersection of Frontage Road.
After Police conducted a motor vehicle stop, the accused, Yeyson Jose Castromartinez, 23, of Stamford, was showing signs of alcohol impairment. He was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard and was placed under arrest.
During a search of the vehicle incident to custodial arrest for evidence of alcohol consumption, containers were discovered within the wing-span reach of the accused while he operated the vehicle.
Mr. Castromartinez was charged with Traveling Unreasonably Fast, Illegal Operation of Motor Vehicle Under Influence, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, Traffic Control Signals, Drinking While Driving.
He was able to post the required 7% of his $300 bond and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Feb 3.
