Greenwich Police responded to the area of Byram Shore Rd and Ritch Ave on Aug 4 around 7:00am on a report of an unoccupied damaged vehicle in the roadway.
Prior to arrival, officers were notified of debris at the intersection of Frontage Rd and Delavan Ave.
When police arrived, with the assistance of a Spanish speaking CT State Trooper, they conducted a field interview of the vehicle occupant, Nestor Leonardo Guzman-Carreno, 29, of Norwalk, who told police that he had been involved in a motor vehicle collision and had tried to leave the scene but that his vehicle was too badly damaged to make it back home.
Debris from the intersection was clearly from the damaged vehicle occupied by Mr. Guzman-Carreno. Although he had a cell phone, Mr. Guzman-Carreno stated that he had made no attempt to contact the police because he thought it “wasn’t that big of a deal.”
Mr. Guzman-Carreno was placed under arrest and charged with Evading Responsibility and Failure to Drive Upon Right.
He was processed and released, and assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on August 19, 2024.
