Downtown Greenwich Road Closed Due to Eversource Delivery of Large Part for Substation Project

Around 5:40pm Greenwich Police are alerting drivers that Field Point Road between Railroad Ave and and Prospect Street is closed in both directions.

Captain Kraig Gray at 6:25pm confirmed that the truck is the one Eversource warned us of earlier in the week.

The area is cordoned off and a massive trailer with a huge piece of equipment 14 Ft tall, 148,000 Lbs, is parked on the closed down section of Field Point Road.

Eversource announced they hoped to deliver two large pieces of electrical equipment to the new substation on Railroad Avenue between Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, depending on weather.

Eversource said the new equipment will step down voltage from the regional electric grid to the local system serving our residential and commercial customers.

Each piece of equipment is more than 14 feet tall and nearly 148,000 pounds, requiring a special truck for delivery which is about 140 feet long.
