On Tuesday morning a large group of Greenwich Public Schools PTA volunteers gathered at town hall to honor nominees for the Essence awards. This year there were an unprecedented 16 nominees.

The GCDS Schwarz Campus is 41.5 acres in the RA-1 zone and the school does not receive any FAR bonus for educational use. The Schwarz Campus at 23 Fairfield Road was originally part of the F.A.O. Schwarz estate, which goes all the way to Cardinal Road. Even if the school added the requested units, they would still have remaining FAR, but the discussion revolved around the proposed multi-family apartment building in the RA-1 single family zone.
Ryan Fazio won the Connecticut GOP nomination to challenge incumbent Democratic Governor Ned Lamont. Republicans rallied behind Fazio after New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart suspended her campaign following news of her alleged misuse of a city issued p-card, and Betsy McCaughey dropped out of the race after failing to secure enough delegates to force a primary. Democratic Governor Ned Lamont is seeking a historic third consecutive term. Both Senator Fazio and Governor Lamont call Greenwich home.

At the 2019 Pan American Games, gold and bronze medal winner fencer Race Imboden took a knee during the awards ceremony. Imboden wrote in a tweet (August 9, 2019) that his purpose was to protest the “shortcomings of the country I hold so dear” including “racism, [need for better] gun control, mistreatment of immigrants and a president who spreads hate.”Fazio responded on Twitter (August 13, 2019) calling Imboden’s words “a vicious lie about our country” by an “ingrate – whose country gave him everything.” Continue Reading →
