RTM Okays Municipal Improvement for HATG Project at Armstrong Court

A $30 Million expansion and renovation project planned for the grim-looking 1950s public housing project known as Armstrong Court in Chickahominy moved a step closer to fruition after Monday’s RTM meeting. On June 8 the RTM voted both to reject Peter Berg’s suggestion to have a sub-committee study the proposal further, and to approve Municipal Improvement status for the project. Adopting a Dog a Day at Adopt-A-Dog: 8 Dogs in 8 Days!

Newly appointed executive director Kristen Rice at Adopt A Dog said the shelter is on a roll. Eight dogs have been adopted in the past eight days. She credits a new online adoption form, an “UnderDog program” that waives adoption fees for dogs that have resided at the shelter for a long time, and cross-training of staff, so more people are involved in the adoption process. Swim Across America Needs Swimmers and Volunteers to Make Waves to Fight Cancer

Swimmers and volunteers are invited to take part in the annual Swim Across America Greenwich-Stamford event in Long Island Sound on June 27. More than 150 swimmers and volunteers have signed up. The goal is to have 200+ swimmers in the water. Participants can also kayak or volunteer on land. The idea is for everyone to make waves in the fight against cancer. Continue Reading →
