Every May, in time for Memorial Day, Greenwich Selectman Dave Theis saw to it that ten flags were erected on each side of the Mianus Bridge over Rte 1. After the Town lost the well-liked selectman in December 2014, the bridge came to symbolize the patriotic man. Now the bridge he liked to decorate with flags will be named in his honor. Eversource standard service customers should see a significant drop in their monthly electric bill. According to Eversource, the savings of about 20% monthly will be in effect through the end of the year. The standard service price changes twice a year (January 1 and July 1). State law requires that. Eversource is a regulated energy distribution company, and they purchase electricity from wholesale suppliers on behalf of their customers. Those costs are passed directly to them with no profit to the company. All of Eversource’s customers have the option to buy their power from other retail suppliers or go with their standard service rate. Continue Reading →
