Lawrence “Larry” Petruso, 74, Retired Greenwich Police Officer

Retired Greenwich Police Officer Lawrence “Larry” Petruso passed away on Saturday, April 9, at the Regional Hospice facility of Danbury, with his family at his bedside.

Officer Petruso started employment with Greenwich Police Department in September of 1970, and retired in February of 1998, after a career of over 27 years. He was 74 years old.

Officer Petruso was an Army War Veteran serving from November 1967 to November 1969. While in the Army he served as a military policeman and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Officer Petruso was born in the Bronx, NY to the late Dominic and Angela Petruso. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who resided in New Fairfield for most of his life. He is survived by his wife Barbara Petruso, his daughter Danielle Petruso, his son Christopher Petruso along with his wife Roseann Petruso, and grandson Austin Petruso.

Officer Petruso was the recipient of numerous Departmental and SSA commendations including the Ribbon of Commendation, in addition to many letters of appreciation.

A wake will be held on Wednesday, April 13 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, April 14th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mount View Cemetery located on Route 37 in New Fairfield.
