Following Crash, Driver Charged with DUI, No License, No Insurance, Possession

Greenwich Police on patrol in the area of Valley Rd between Palmer Hill Rd and Cat Rock Rd around 3:20am on Oct 9 initiated a motor vehicle stop and determined that the car had left its lane and was involved in a crash that disabled both passenger side tires.

Police say the driver had glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcoholic beverages.

The suspect was asked to submit to a series of standard field sobriety tests which he did not perform to standard.

Further, police said DMV records revealed that the car was not registered and the license plates belonged to another car. Also, police confirmed the accused did not have a valid driver’s license.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of multiple open beer bottles as well as a .5 grams of a white powder packaged in plastic baggies, which later tested presumptive positive for cocaine.

The driver, Ronal Joel Rodriguez-Cerrato, 20, of Norwalk was charged with DUI, Driving an Unregistered Vehicle, Improper Use of Markers, Driving with no Minimum Insurance, Failure to drive in Proper Lane, Driving without a License, Use of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Controlled Substance.
