Maureen Dianis, 81

Born on January 24, 1945, at Astoria General Hospital in Astoria, New York, Maureen was the only child of the late Ann (Keenan) Doyle and John Doyle. She grew up in Queens, where she attended Catholic elementary and secondary schools before continuing her education at New York University.

Maureen attended and worked at New York University, where she met her future husband, Thomas (“Tom”) Dianis. The couple married on August 7, 1971, beginning more than five decades of marriage. Together, they raised three sons, Keith, Todd, and Scott.

Throughout her life, Maureen enjoyed a varied professional career. In addition to her time at NYU, she worked at the Hayden Stone brokerage firm and as a real estate broker in the 1980s. She later worked as a teacher at Family Centers and as an aide at Julian Curtiss School, where she especially enjoyed working with children with disabilities, supporting their individual strengths and abilities.

A devoted Christian and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maureen was also active in her community. She belonged to the Woman’s Club of Greenwich and was involved in the Cos Cob School PTA during the years her sons attended the school. In her later years, she especially enjoyed volunteering at St. Paul’s Vacation Bible School, where she shared her love of art by leading creative projects with the children.

Maureen enjoyed painting, gardening, watching PGA golf, and spending time at Tod’s Point. Each summer, she looked forward to spending a week in Richmond, Virginia, visiting her cousin Margaret, with whom she shared a bond more like sisters than cousins.

Above all, Maureen treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren. One of her most cherished memories was having all four grandchildren together at the family home, where they would play hide-and-seek throughout the house and yard. These simple, joyful moments held a special place in her heart.

Maureen is survived by her loving husband, Tom; her three sons, Keith, Todd (Chelsea), and Scott; and her four cherished grandchildren, Thomas J. and Gianna of Madison, New Jersey, and Cameron and Georgia of Greenwich, Connecticut. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carol; nephew, Charles; and niece, Laura.

In addition to her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Charles.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate hospice staff at Greenwich Hospital and Waveny Visiting Nurse & Hospice, as well as Dr. Walsh, Dr. DeJesus Roman, and Dr. Teslya, for their care and support.
