The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CT DOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the installation of centerline rumble strips on U.S. Route 1 carrying West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 6:00 pm.
The virtual public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required.
A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded.

“Centerline rumble strips are a low-cost FHWA safety countermeasure that alert drivers when they drift out of a lane, reducing head on collisions and roadway departure crashes,” said CT Dept of Transportation Project Manager Balazs Szoke.
“We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
U.S. Route 1 carrying West Putnam Avenue is receiving pavement resurfacing and the planned CLRS will be 320 feet north of Pemberwick Road to Brookside Drive.
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2024. The estimated construction cost for rumble strips in this section of U.S. Route 1 is approximately $7,000. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 100% state funds with no cost to the town.
