Homegrown Greenwich chef Geoff Lazlo plans to open brick-and-mortar specialty market offering gourmet sandwiches, made-to-order salads, premium coffee, and healthy, ingredient-focused prepared foods.
Chef Geoff Lazlo, founder and managing partner of Greenwich-based hospitality company, Geoff Lazlo Food, announced on Wednesday the opening of “The Country Table,” a specialty prepared foods market to be located at 1 Glenville Street Glenville.
Chef Lazlo has cultivated his career and refined his cooking prowess under restaurant industry legends Alice Waters at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California, Dan Barber at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in the Hudson Valley, and alongside icons of the New York City restaurant scene, Michael Anthony at Danny Meyer’s flagship Gramercy Tavern and Charlie Palmer at Aureole. Lazlo served as Executive Chef of le Farm and The Whelk in Westport prior to opening his own farm-to-table restaurant, Mill Street Bar & Table, in Greenwich in 2015.
With the announcement of The Country Table, Chef Lazlo is setting out to combine his fine dining pedigree with his love for delicious and familiar, everyday foods, such as gourmet sandwiches, made-to-order salads, coffee, scoopable ice cream, and an array of family-friendly, prepared entrées and sides for eat-in or take-out.
“It’s all in the simple details,” Lazlo said. “We are taking a thoughtful approach to every ingredient and flavor profile. We’re looking to make fresh, great tasting food that everyone will enjoy.”
Geoff Lazlo Food is owned and operated by Geoff Lazlo and Greg Oshins, each Greenwich natives and lifelong best friends since meeting in the second grade at Brunswick School.
Oshins stepped-in to partner with Lazlo in 2019 to lead the company’s evolution into brick-and-mortar. The Country Table is the shared vision of Lazlo and Oshins, who have collaborated informally for years, and have long dreamed of the opportunity to partner together on a project.
The Country Table will provide a new, direct channel for Geoff Lazlo Food’s patrons to access its prepared foods along with a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner staples perfect for commuters, busy families, and nearby students. “Our upcoming brick and mortar location in Glenville is a natural extension of Geoff Lazlo Food’s catering
and events business, which grew organically into our prepared foods home delivery business during the pandemic,” Oshins said. “We’re putting a focus on making busy times stress-free for families, commuters, and working professionals by offering flexible deliveries, curbside pickup, and a simple and intuitive mobile ordering platform.”
“The Country Table will be a convenient place to grab a freshly made-to-order salad or sandwich, a great cup of coffee, and most importantly, it will be a community hub that embodies the local, small town feel of the Greenwich we remember from our childhood,” says Lazlo. “We can’t wait to open our doors later this fall.”
