Just Say “Lou from Cos Cob.” People Know Who He Is.

Before he ran Post Stationery, otherwise known as “Lou’s,” and long before the lifelong Democrat became Greenwich’s Tax Collector, Lou Caravella was a young boy pacing up and down Greenwich Avenue with a bag full of newspapers. He sold the Greenwich News and Graphic for 3¢ a copy and was allowed to keep a penny for himself with each sale. He was promoted to “carrier,” and later worked in the mail room during World War II, rolling up papers and gluing the brown paper wrappers with a flour and water paste to be mailed overseas. WGCH Continues Broadcasting After Turning Off Transmitter at 177 West Putnam Ave

On Monday WGCH announced their transmitter tower at 177 West Putnam Ave had been turned off. While the station searches for a new location for its equipment, listeners can go to WGCH.com where the station is streamed or listen to WGCH at 105.5FM, though that signal is not clear in all parts of town.
