Women from all over Fairfield County are invited to participate in “She Nailed It!,” a fast-paced nailing competition for ladies only.
Teams vie for the title of Champion and to win the coveted bedazzled, golden hammer prize – all with the goal of providing a new affordable home for a female headed household!
Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC) will host its second annual “She Nailed It!” social and competition to raise funds for Women Build, an innovative program designed to recruit, educate and empower women to break stereotypes, build homes and advocate for affordable housing in Fairfield County.
The event will be held Thursday, May 11 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 p.m. at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center in Old Greenwich.
All proceeds from the event will be used to build a new home for a hard-working, female-headed household in need.
The event is co-sponsored by the Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation and Garden Catering.
Teams of four women are encouraged to register early for the event; no donation is required during the registration process.
It is the organizers hope that each team will raise at least $500 by competition day.
Habitat provides participants with a website and coaching for success.
Fundraising is as easy as telling friends, family, colleagues and others about why the participants build with Habitat. This will be a safe and fun competition – no experience or special skills are required.
Spectators (including men) are welcome to attend and cheer on their favorite teams. Spectator tickets can be purchased online (prior to May 11) for $25 or $35 at the door.
There will also be prizes for the best team name and best costume, as well as ample food and drink for all contestants and spectators. For more information and guidance for registering a team, securing sponsorships and purchasing tickets, please visit http://www.habitatcfc.org/
Habitat CFC builds 12 to 14 homes each year and has provided more than 1,000 family members in Coastal Fairfield County with a decent, affordable place to live. Women Build recently completed its 12th home and is currently working on its 13th home to be completed this summer.
“This event is unique and so much fun! There is no better way to get involved to support the building of decent, affordable housing for hard working families,” said Andrea Stone, Women Build Committee Chair.
