Police Catch up with Man Who Fled Back Country Crash. Tooth on Dashboard Was a Clue

Jonathan Negron, 35, was arrested by Greenwich Police on April 5 and charged with Evading Responsibility, DUI and Tailgating for an incident stemming back to May 25, 2016.

Last May, Mr. Negron allegedly fled the scene of a crash in area of Riversville Rd and John Street. According to Greenwich Police, a gentleman driving behind Mr. Negron witnessed him crash into a phone pole, jump out of his Audi and flee on foot.

On scene, officers observed blood on the passenger front seat of Negron’s car, as well as multiple 25 oz cans of Bud Light Watermelon Ritas and a bottle of vodka.

Police also found a tooth on the Audi’s dashboard.

A passerby who was working in the area approached the officers and as they were looking for driver, and related that he had seen a white male hop over a fence onto the Audubon property.

Mr. Negron was subsequently located hiding in a wooded area by Police and was positively identified as the driver and owner of a black Audi involved in the crash.

According to Lt. Kraig Gray, Mr. Negron was observed with a large gauge in his lower lip and was missing a front tooth.

After Negron was transported to the hospital, Greenwich Police obtained a warrant for his blood for analysis.

According to Lt. Kraig Gray, Mr. Negron was well above the legal limit.

On April 5, Negron was arrested on a warrant at the Westchester County Correctional Facility in Valhalla. He is currently being held on a $15,000 bond and has a date scheduled in Stamford Superior Court on April 19, 2017.
