Thanks to Jersey Mike’s in Greenwich, a big celebration took place to recognize their contribution to making wishes come true.
Make-A-Wish Connecticut joined forces with 17 Jersey Mike’s Subs in the state for the 11th Annual March “Month of Giving” campaign to fund local charities.
During March, customers made donations to Make-A-Wish Connecticut at participating Jersey Mike’s restaurants.
On Wednesday Carl Kazmierczak from PepsiCo was in Greenwich to present Pam Keough, Make-A-Wish Connecticut’s President and CEO, with a check for $25,000.
Here in Greenwich, Sam Buck had his wish come true.
Sam’s mother Allyson said that Sam wanted to go to an F1 race and meet Sebastian Vettel, which he did in 2015.
“It was easily the best experience of his life, and all of our kids all still talk about it all the time,” Allyson said. “We will forever be grateful to Make-A-Wish, the memories of that trip help us to keep going when life with a terminally ill child becomes overwhelming. We have no doubt those memories and our Make-A-Wish family will help sustain us with all the challenges that lie ahead of us.”
During a time when close to 150 travel wishes have had to be postponed, Make-A-Wish Connecticut continues to grant all wishes that are safe to grant.

The campaign culminated with Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday when local Jersey Mike’s restaurants gave 100 percent of the day’s sales – not just profit – to Make-A-Wish Connecticut.
On the Day of Giving, local Jersey Mike’s owners and operators throughout the country donated their resources and every single dollar that came in to more than 200 different charities including hospitals, youth organizations, food banks and more.
In March, Jersey Mike’s goal was to raise a record-breaking $8 million for local charities striving to fulfill their missions and make a difference.
“This March, we celebrate our Month of Giving with a renewed sense of determination to do all we can to raise as much as we can for important local causes,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO. “I invite you to come in this month and make a difference in someone’s life.”
Throughout March, customers made donations through the Jersey Mike’s mobile app or onsite. On the Day of Giving, Jersey Mike’s offered free delivery through the Jersey Mike’s app.
Since the Month of Giving began in 2011, Jersey Mike’s has raised more than $32 million for local
charities.
