Gingerbread Dreams in Old Greenwich on Eve of Enchanted Forest

The students at Old Greenwich School enjoyed making gingerbread houses after school on Thursday, the eve of the Junior League’s 40th annual Enchanted Forest fundraiser. It’s no coincidence their principal, Jen Bencivengo, is a chair of the fundraiser which features creatively decorated trees and gingerbread houses, all available for purchase during the event.

Events are as follows:

  • Friday, November 18 Sneak Peek starts at 5:00pm
  • Saturday November 19, 10am – 4pm
  • Sunday November 20, 10am – 3pm

This event is the Junior League of Greenwich’s signature fundraiser to support all of their community projects.  The event features (1) decorated trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses to be auctioned, (2) children’s and family events, (3) a Friday Night Sneak Peek shopping event, and (4) a fabulous Saturday Night Ruby Ball.

A major part of the event is the Holiday Boutique featuring 50 craft and specialty vendors, who sell everything from fine jewelry and home décor, to women’s/men’s/children’s clothing, toys and holiday gifts.

The Holiday Boutique is set-up on Friday, November 18, 2016.

GINGERBREAD & TREES & SILENT AUCTION. Every year, this event draws more than 5,000 visitors from Greenwich and surrounding areas.

Decorate a Tree – nearly 100 exclusive trees are decorated by local florists, designers, retail locations and individual contributors.  Visitors bid on trees by silent auction all weekend.

Create a Gingerbread House – these confectionery masterpieces are a must see every year with top bakeries, restaurants, country clubs, schools and community organizations showing off their creative talent.  Visitors can bid on gingerbread houses by silent auction all weekend.

CHILDREN’S GIVING SHOP

The Children’s Giving Shop at The Enchanted Forest is a child-centered area where children can shop independently for holiday gifts.

Staffed and stocked by JLG members, the children will find a wide assortment of reasonably priced gifts for family members, friends, and teachers.  The shop is filled with picture frames, candles, note cards, toys, sports items, games, gardening items, jewelry and more!

Every child is sure to find perfect gifts for all on their shopping list at The Children’s Giving Shop.  High school volunteers and JLG members assist the children to shop.  All gifts purchased are wrapped and tagged so that their presents can be surprises for all who receive the gifts.

SANTA’S BREAKFAST & CLARA’S TEA

Two of the most popular events – Santa’s Breakfast and Clara’s Tea – are available at the Enchanted Forest again this year!  This is a great way to carve out some quality time with your family over The Enchanted Forest weekend.

Santa’s Breakfast includes a delicious family style breakfast, live entertainment by Graham Clarke, early access to Santa photos, Boutique shopping (no lines!) and of course a special visit from the big guy himself!

At Clara’s Tea, little ballerinas and their escorts are treated to a special tea, a live performance by a dancer from the Nutcracker and a question/answer session with our ballerina. Festive dress highly encouraged!
