In recent years there have been many changes and upgrades to Byram Park, including a new swimming pool, rededicated and expanded playground and an ADA accessibility project that is underway in the Byram Marina.
The swimming pool project was launched in 2011 and completed in 2018, having benefited from the Junior League of Greenwich’s fundraising of millions of dollars. The 6,000 sq ft pool is “zero entry,” which means it’s easy to enter, like walking into the water at the beach. The other end of the pool has steps into a semi circle.

The expanded playground in the park was re-dedicated to Anne Kristoff in 2016. “The Anne M. Kristoff Children’s Playground at Byram Shore” was expanded and rebuilt. Though she died in 1989 at just 46, she made her mark on Byram. In her volunteer work, she served on the RTM and was active in many school and town organizations. She served as president of the Byram School PTA and was active in a fight to keep that school open.

When the Byram School was closed and the property became McKinney Terrace apartments, Kristoff fought to preserve open space and save trees there in memory of Byram’s veterans. She also was responsible for restoring plaques honoring deceased Byram Veterans who had attended Byram School.

Today, a project in the Byram Marina in the park is under construction to install ADA-accessible slips for Greenwich residents. According to Greenwich Parks & Rec, the work is scheduled to be completed before the marina reopens in the spring and will will feature a longer gangway, wider docks in select areas, and minor layout adjustments.
“We don’t anticipate any disruption to the regular boating season and look forward to providing easier access for all residents to enjoy the marina,” Parks & Rec said in a Facebook post last October.
