Students at Old Greenwich School were thrilled on Thursday with a full day of activities for “Dolphin Day,” which was organized as a surprise.
The day had an “under the sea” theme featuring Bubble Mania shows in the gymnasium, a touch tank from the The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, beach party games on the field and art on the plaza.
Children took turns at the touch tank which featured crabs, clams, snails, horseshoe crabs and hermit crabs.
During his highly entertaining Bubble Mania show, Casey Carl wove in a science lesson. he noted that bubbles are everywhere in nature, including Long Island Sound and a glass of milk. He explained the properties of bubbles and ways to prevent them from popping.
“It’s not a magic show,” he said. “It’s a science show. Everything I did here, you can do at home.”
The entire day of activities was organized by the school and supported by the PTA.
