Originally inspired by the loss of a dear family friend, Steven Sudell, who died in 2018 at the age of 14  after a valiant battle with Cancer in 2018, Brett said Steven would be a junior in college today.

He recalled that back in February 2018, Steven was well enough to travel so he and his family went on a vacation to the Bahamas, a wish granted by Make-A-Wish Connecticut. While away in the Bahamas Steven and his family enjoyed deep sea fishing and playing golf.

Brett’s effort stemmed from his Independent Service Project for his participation in the National Honor Society through Greenwich High School.

He said that currently in Fairfield County there are 76 children and 5 in Greenwich alone waiting for wishes. It costs on average, $10,000 per wish.

Brett explained he and the Greenwich High School Boys Varsity Hockey team are  asking for people to make pledges per goal scored.

The total goals scored by the whole team at the end of the season  will be tallied and payment can be made. There are 20 games in the regular season plus playoffs. For example, if someone pledges $5 per goal and the team scores a total of 30 goals, you would donate $150. A pledge of $1 per goal, means a donation of $30.

“We will notify you at the conclusion of our season how many goals were scored and how much money you owe,” he explained, adding that payment can be made by check, venmo, or cash.

“My goal is to be able to help grant not just one, but two wishes,” Brett said, adding that all money raised will go directly to Make-A-Wish, Connecticut.
