Abilis Island Beach Concession Adds Merch Including T-Shirts and Sweatshirts

Abilis, the nonprofit organization providing services and support to more than 800 individuals with special needs and their families, is once again managing the Island Beach Concession Stand for summer 2026.

This is the sixth year in a row that Abilis has managed the concession stand serving up favorite beach fare such as burgers, fries, hot dogs, ice cream, candy and refreshing drinks and snacks.

New this year is the addition of Island Beach merchandise with cool t-shirts and sweatshirts available at the Island Beach Concession Stand and online through Abilis. The Island Beach Concession Stand is open based on the Town of Greenwich Island Beach Ferry schedule, which runs June 13 through September 13, 2026.

“We are so happy to have our Abilis community members and local teens back this year, for the sixth year in a row, managing the Island Beach Concession Stand,” said Amy Montimurro, CEO and president of Abilis. “The Concession Stand is a wonderful example of inclusive employment where our Abilis community members can work side-by-side with area teens serving the community that they love. Riding the ferry and running the stand are a highlight of the summer for the dozen or so Abilis community members who work at the Island Beach Concession Stand, with many of our Abilis community members coming back each summer to work there.”

The concession stand offers beach favorites like hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, french fries, chicken tenders, fountain soda, smoothies and of course a variety of ice cream and candy. Beach visitors can also rent umbrellas and chairs by the hour or the day.

New this year are Island Beach branded items including t-shirts and hoodies with a fun Island Beach design. The items are for sale at the Island Beach Concession Stand or available to order online through abilis.us for additional sizes and colors.

“We are really excited to be able to broaden the items available at the Island Beach Concession Stand,” said Michelle Santora, Café and Concession manager at Abilis. “For so many years, we’ve had beachgoers request additional items like t-shirts and sweatshirts, and this year, we have those items too. We can’t wait to see Greenwich’s Island Beach wear sported all throughout town.”

The Island Beach Concession Stand is open seven days a week June 13 through August 31 and then on weekends in September 5 through September 13.

The Island Beach Concession stand closes each day 30-minutes before the last ferry leaves for Greenwich Harbor. Grill service ends 15 minutes before the final ferry departs from the Arch Street Ferry Dock each day.
