Valentine’s Day came a bit early for the children at Hamilton Avenue School this year. The 6th annual patriotic community walk on Veterans Day marked 100 years since the end of World War I, which was the topic of remarks by keynote speaker Dean Gamanos. Commander of the American Legion Peter LeBeau talked about Greenwich’s Col Raynal Bolling, whose likeness is immortalized in a statue outside the Havemeyer building. Bolling was the first high-ranking officer of the United States Army to be killed in combat in World War I.
