For the first time in what might become a tradition, the amazing PE teachers at Cos Cob School created an elf-themed 18-hole mini golf course in the gymnasium.
On Thursday Greenwich Schools Superintendent stopped by to witness the transformation of the gym and play a round herself.

What better way to introduce children to the basics of putting and how to grip a golf club than with mini golf?
PE teachers Michael Fina and Philip D’Amato said creating 18 holes took considerable planning, but it was well worthwhile. The children loved it.
The timing turned out to be ideal, not only because the mini golf course featured a holiday theme with elves, candy canes, snowflakes, dreidels, menorahs, and Christmas tree ornaments throughout the course, but also because the schools gymnastics unit is coming up and the same mats will be in place just in time.
Mr. Fina explained that initially the students all had a session on putting from a distance of four feet. They also learned how to “GASP,” short for Grip, Aim, Stance and Posture.
From there, each class had two visits to the mini golf course, though they hadn’t expected anything so extravagant.
When they saw how creative and extensive the course was, they were overjoyed.
The last fun twist on Thursday was that it was also “mismatch day” at the school, meaning many golfers sported outfits combining stripes, florals and plaids.
Better than a hole-in-one!
