Police Catch up with Audi Driver Who Took out Utility Pole Behind Library

In an update to an incident that took last Thursday, in which a driver took knocked down a phone pole on Deerfield Drive and took off on foot, Greenwich Police have made an arrest.

The incident, which took place around 3:15am, resulted in residents losing power.

On Monday, Lt. Slusarz of Greenwich Police said that in the early morning hours on Thursday, there had been somebody trying to steal rims and tires from cars at the New Country Audi and Mercedes dealerships on West Putnam Ave.

“An officer came upon him during patrol,” Slusarz said. “He beat feet, hopped in a car, drove around the corner, crashed into a pole and ran.”

Lt Slusarz said it was not yet clear whether the suspect had stolen the car.
