GPD Secure Arrest Warrant for Cos Cob Bank Robbery Suspect

On Wednesday Greenwich Police announced they have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a suspect in the May 11 bank robbery in Cos Cob.

On May 11 around 10:15am M&T Bank was robbed. No injuries were reported and the suspect fled the bank. Afterward, police were able to circulate surveillance images of a suspect, a male, approx 5’10”, approx 175 lbs wearing a dark hoodie, sunglasses and a face mask.

According to Lt Martin O’Reilly, detectives with the Greenwich Police Department have secured an arrest warrant for Joseph C Heffner, “JC”, 42, of Stamford, on the charge of Robbery First Degree (53a-134) and Larceny Fourth Degree, (53a125) with a bond of $500,000.

Also, according to O’Reilly back in 2011 he was arrested for allegedly stealing an iPad while at work at the Splash Car Wash on West Putnam Ave. The victim was a customer at the car wash.

Regarding the Robbery of the Wendy’s Restaurant on May 23, that took place while employees were closing for the night, detectives are actively working the case and are pursuing leads.

In that case, police say the suspects were two men dressed in black hoodies and masks. One of the robbers brandished a firearm and demanded cash from the manager, at which time an undisclosed amount of cash was given to both subjects.
