On Saturday the Greenwich Road Runners Jingle Bell Run was technically canceled due to snow temps, but a several intrepid runners showed up nevertheless.
The group was grateful to Rob Guerrieri from Upper Crust Bagels who donated bagels and coffee. Also, Jerry Cotrone and the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Dept members opened up their truck bays and the group enjoyed a nice turnout.
GRR has a diverse membership drawn together by the joy of running and its healthful benefits. They have developed a special camaraderie that comes from like-minded people supporting, encouraging, and enjoying being around each other.
Greenwich Road Runners hosts group runs, fun runs, training runs and programs on the road and track, and social events.
They also engage in community activities to promote the benefits of running to improve the health of people in the community. Everyone over the age of 16 is welcome to join. Membership in GRR is on an annual basis. The annual fee is $25.
Last June their June Father’s Day 1-Mile Fun Run and 5K at Tod’s Point lucked out with absolutely stunning weather. The park proved to be the ideal setting for the run, with the route hugging Long Island Sound.
Typically, in August the group organizes a Summer 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, also at Tod’s Point .
