On Wednesday GHS headmaster Ralph Mayo emailed GHS families the sad news that Luke Meyers had died.
Luke, 15, a bright Greenwich High School student who was passionate about science and raising awareness about the environment, died on Saturday morning.
“It is with a great deal of sadness that I write to you today to inform you of the passing of Luke Meyers, a member of the Class of 2022,” Mayo wrote. “Our community is deeply saddened by this loss and our thoughts and prayers will be with Luke and his family.”
On Nov 16 hundreds of Luke’s friends, family and teachers volunteered at a beach clean up at Tod’s Point in his name.
Mayo said that on Monday, December 9, the school put supports in place for students and staff who may be having difficulty with the passing of a peer or student. Those counseling resources will remain in place as long as they are needed.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church on Saturday, December 21 at 2:00 pm.
Mr. Mayo said the family is in the process of developing plans for a GHS scholarship fund.
