Parks & Rec Hires New Superintendent of Parks & Trees / Tree Warden

Dr. Gregory T. Kramer has been appointed as Greenwich’s new Superintendent of Parks & Trees / Tree Warden, effective Monday, March 18, 2019.

Kramer replaced Bruce Spaman who retired last September, but continued for several months on a part time basis to complete projects in the works.

Dr. Kramer has over 25 years of work experience in the horticulture industry, in both the public and private sector.

His work has included horticultural management in public gardens; five of which were Olmstead designed Gardens, four in New York City and one in Florida. In addition, he has worked in New York City as the Director of Horticulture for Tavern on the Green Restaurant, New York Restoration Project, and at the Bok Tower Gardens, in Florida.

His work consisted of departmental supervision, leadership development, budgeting, nature habitat restoration, landscape design, capital projects, consulting and plant health. He also taught courses at Miami Dade College which consisted of botany, IPM Programs, and Best Management Practices.

Dr. Kramer holds a bachelor’s degree in biology / botany from the University of Miami, a master of science in environmental horticulture from the University of Florida and a doctorate in plant medicine, also from the University of Florida.
