The Town of Greenwich is partnering with Parkmobile for pay-by-phone on demand and prepaid mobile payments. This arrangement impacts both on- and off-street parking.
The new partnership will expand the current pay-by-phone transactions so residents, businesses and visitors can pay for parking by mobile phone throughout Town including parking in the Town Hall garage, Island Beach parking lot, Horseneck lot and Soundview lot.
This is the first step in expanding mobile payment transactions throughout the Town of Greenwich.
Customers will be able to utilize their smartphones to pay for parking using Parkmobile’s mobile applications with iPhones, Androids, Windows, and Blackberry phones.
After an exhaustive search, Parkmobile was selected to replace the current provider, Verrus/Paybyphone.com. The transition will start this month with media and information dissemination followed by the actual switch over on December 23, 2014. Please register in advance at www.parkmobile.com or download the mobile app in their phone’s app store.
“We are excited to work with ParkMobile, pay by phone industry leader, and implement a Town-wide pay by phone option. This partnership will expand current mobile payment options and revolutionize the current parking operation as it has done for Norwalk, New Haven and Hartford.”
Once registered, customers may use the mobile app, internet, or call a toll free number to pay for parking. After setting up their account, they can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone. This convenient service also provides customers the ability to receive alerts when their meter time is about to expire, extend their time remotely without returning to the meter, utilize credit cards in locations that do not offer manual credit card payments, as well as print and keep receipts for parking.
Parkmobile is the leading provider for on-demand and prepaid mobile payments for on- and off-street parking. Their services are used in more than 600 locations in the U.S. by millions of regis-tered users. Parkmobile’s investors include Fontinalis Partners, BCD Group, and BMW Group.
