UPDATE: Byram Shubert Library to Reopen Thursday

Update Wednesday, Oct 19: Byram Shubert Library will reopen Thursday for its usual hours starting at 12:00 noon.

Original story, Oct 17: Over the weekend the Byram Shubert Library closed. According to Barbara Ormerod-Glynn, Greenwich Library Director, the sprinklers were inadvertently triggered while the building was closed due to a mechanical issue.

“Carpeting in sections of the first level were soaked but the water was successfully extracted by our facilities team and vendors,” she explained. “More significantly, water entered into electrical conduits through floor outlets. This damaged some of our electrical wiring which is why the branch had to close.”

Ms Ormerod-Glynn said the library was working with their electrical vendor to complete repairs, after which an inspection is required by the Town Building department.

“We are grateful to them, and to the Greenwich Fire Department, for their swift response at the time of the incident,” she added. “We extend our thanks to the Byram community for their patience. We hope to reopen as soon as possible.”
