While Greenwich Avenue is bursting with high-end retail shops, the thrift stores in Greenwich are just as accessible, affordable and offer endless opportunities for unique finds.
The renewed focus on thrifting is driven in party by a reaction against fast fashion and a desire for sustainability, especially among young people.
There are three popular thrift shops in Greenwich: Rummage Room in Old Greenwich, The Marketplace by Fofie and Mia’s in Byram, and the Greenwich Auxiliary Thrift Shop in Chickahominy.
Rummage Room
When entering the Rummage Room, one is immediately struck by the welcoming atmosphere with warm smiles and a wide array of affordable, stylish, and amazing quality clothes and trinkets. Since 1964, the Rummage Room has been selling merchandise for fair prices, and donating their proceedings to a range of organizations that the Women’s Fellowship Association supports. The work the Rummage Room does is admirable, evidently so with over 60 volunteers from the community who want to help in any way.
