“The Chamber represents businesses of all sizes, as well as nonprofits. We plan to create business-to-business events, and business-to-consumer events,” Blume said.

The Chamber’s enhanced social media platforms have sparked interest among residents who are eager to attend local events, and small business owners looking to build their brands and expand their presence across town and attract new clients.

With the goal of  strengthening its role as a valuable community resource, Blume said the Chamber is improving its website and launching newsletters aimed toward business owners.

I think it is a big community resource, and we now have a big reach. The Chamber’s social media is the ‘push’ and is meant to provide information in a timely manner. We’re definitely enhancing what is being done now, compared to the past,” Blume said.

Using platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram has helped foster a sense of community.

“The nice thing about our social media is that people see things as they are happening, and it’s exciting,” Blume added.

The Chamber’s ribbon-cutting ceremonies and grand openings across town not only celebrate a new business, but help spread the word to residents, and encourage them to shop locally, grab a meal, and connect with others at community events.

“At Longford’s Ice Cream new location in Glenville, we were able to showcase the business, their ice cream, their staff—and people can see it all in real time.”

This structure gives businesses in the Town of Greenwich a valuable platform to highlight their brand, tell their story, and reach both loyal locals and new customers. Through vibrant social media coverage, on-the-ground event support, and growing digital outreach, including newsletters and website features, the Chamber is eager to help small businesses build visibility, foster engagement, and thrive within the community.

Whether it’s a family-run café, a boutique retailer, or a new professional service, the goal is for each business to have the opportunity to be seen, supported and celebrated.

“It’s important to get out there and talk to people. There will always be that human connection aspect of networking – having in-person conversations to expand a business or outreach towards peers. I love that connection part of the Chamber. The Chamber is about bringing people together,” Blume said.

Sidewalk Sales 2025

Blume is busy planning the annual Sidewalk Sales days, which will run for four days, from Thursday, July 10 to Sunday, July 13.

The annual shopping extravaganza attracts both residents and visitors from surrounding areas. With a lively, festival-like atmosphere throughout downtown, retailers offer exclusive deals, showcase merchandise outdoors, and connect directly with the community.

“Greenwich has the largest sidewalk sale in the state of Connecticut,” Blume said. “Many local stores in the area participate on Greenwich Avenue. We are working closely with town officials and the Greenwich Police to ensure that the days are fun and safe for everyone. I have found that sidewalk sales are a great way for businesses to increase sales. If there is overstock and inventory they would like to sell, this is a perfect opportunity for them.”

Participants are required to be licensed Greenwich business owner in order to participate in the Sidewalk Sales. Something new this year: the Chamber is introducing is convenient online registration for the event.

In 2025, the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce announced a close collaboration with the Town of Greenwich for this year’s Sidewalk Sales in response to major construction projects taking place in the Greenwich Avenue area. This partnership aims to ensure public safety, maintain clear communication, and support local businesses during the time of the Sidewalk Sales this summer.

Working closely with the town of Greenwich is vital to the efforts of the Chamber of Commerce ensuring proper permits for events like the Sidewalk Sales and more local events happening all year round.

Their goal is to keep the downtown experience vibrant and accessible while improvements are underway.

Seller registration is on the Chamber website.
