DeCicco & Sons is pleased to announce the September 9 opening of its newest location in Greenwich, Connecticut, marking the family-owned grocer’s first location in the state and its first expansion beyond New York.
Located at 21 Glenville Street in the Glenville section of Greenwich, the approximately 20,000-square-foot market has transformed the former Stop & Shop space into a modern, full-service grocery destination reflecting DeCicco & Sons’ longstanding commitment to quality, service and community.

The opening also returns a full-service supermarket to Glenville for the first time since the prior Stop & Shop closed.
“We have been looking forward to becoming part of the Greenwich community for a long time, and we are incredibly excited to finally open our doors,” said John DeCicco Jr., CEO of DeCicco & Sons. “Glenville felt like a natural fit for us. It’s a close-knit community that values quality, local businesses and personal service, and we look forward to getting to know our customers and becoming part of the community.”
The new market will also feature design elements intended to give the store a distinctly Greenwich feel, with thoughtful nods to the community’s rich history incorporated throughout the space. The result reflects DeCicco & Sons’ approach to creating stores that feel at home in the communities they serve.
Inside the Greenwich store, shoppers will find the premium products, specialty departments and personal service that have earned DeCicco & Sons a devoted following throughout the Lower Hudson Valley and New York metropolitan area.
The store will feature fresh produce and deli departments; premium natural meats; seafood delivered daily; an extensive cheese selection; fresh sushi; store-made baked goods; locally brewed coffee; a fresh juice bar; a chopped salad station; and a global selection of craft beers, along with an extensive assortment of local, specialty and imported products.
Prepared foods, long a defining part of the DeCicco & Sons experience, will also have a significant presence in Greenwich. The store will offer hot food and salad bars, DeCicco & Sons’ Signature Series prepared foods, and a wide selection of store-made salads, sides, dinners and other ready-to-serve options.
The Greenwich location continues DeCicco & Sons’ commitment to environmentally responsible operations, incorporating many of the energy-efficient systems and practices used throughout the company’s newer markets. These include advanced refrigeration technology designed to reduce environmental impact and reclaim heat generated by the refrigeration system for other uses within the store, along with energy-efficient lighting, solar, and other measures intended to reduce overall energy consumption and environmental impact.
Community involvement will also be an important part of DeCicco & Sons’ presence in Greenwich. The company plans to extend its longstanding school rebate program to the community, providing an opportunity for participating customers to support local schools through their everyday shopping. The Greenwich store will also offer catering and event services, continuing another established part of the DeCicco & Sons customer experience.
“For more than 50 years, our family has believed that a neighborhood market should be more than just a place to shop,” said Chris DeCicco, Partner at DeCicco & Sons. “We want to know our customers, support the schools and organizations that matter to them, and be a good neighbor. That’s what our family has always tried to bring to the communities we serve, and we’re looking forward to doing the same here in Greenwich.”
The Greenwich store will open its doors to customers at 7:30am on Wednesday, September 9. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will follow at 10:30 a.m. to officially celebrate the opening of DeCicco & Sons’ first Connecticut location.
DeCicco & Sons was founded in 2006 by John Jr., Joseph Jr. and Christopher DeCicco, who grew up in the grocery industry with their fathers, John Sr. and Joe Sr. The elder DeCicco brothers opened their first store in the Bronx in 1973, just 14 years after arriving from Italy. Today, the family-owned business operates eleven premium markets throughout Westchester and Putnam counties, with Greenwich marking its first Connecticut location. The family is also developing Piccolino, a new boutique market concept planned to open soon in Scarsdale NY, offering a refined grocery experience centered on a curated assortment of specialty items, prepared foods and premium grab-and-go offerings.
DeCicco & Sons is known for its world-renowned beer department, award-winning prepared gourmet foods and specialty departments. The company proudly carries antibiotic- and hormone-free, humanely raised meats from family farms, alongside store-made favorites including fresh mozzarella and its famous guacamole, a full-service bakery, and an extensive selection of freshly prepared foods.
