LobsterCraft, experts in the art of freshly caught, cooked, and crafted lobster rolls, are expanding in Connecticut with locations in Greenwich, Fairfield and West Hartford.
In Greenwich, LobsterCraft opened this spring in the space previously occupied by Back 40 Kitchen – and prior to that it was home for many years to the Indian restaurant Chola, which changed to Rasa before closing.
The award winning lobster roll aficionados are doing a brisk business in their upstairs location, which is unique in that only three restaurant locations on the Ave are grandfathered in for second floor dining. The others are Ginger Man and Douro.
Outdoor dining is also available at the restaurant’s rear entrance adjacent to the municipal parking lot (behind CVS).
More and more people are finding their way to those award-winning hot buttered lobster rolls that were popularized in Greenwich by LobsterCraft’s gray and orange food trucks at events in Roger Sherman Baldwin Park like Puttin’ on the Dog and the Holiday Stroll in the BOE parking lot by Greenwich Common.
Founder, Michael Harden, a licensed lobster fisherman and Coast Guard captain known as “Captain Mike,” founded LobsterCraft in 2012, buying the 38-foot commercial lobster boat “the Jennifer Lynn,” which is based out of Groton. His deep water lobster traps are located east Montauk where the water is colder and the lobster meat is sweeter.
After so many years of catching the lobster roll by chance at an event or farmers market, it was good news when LobsterCraft established a daily presence on Greenwich Avenue. Enter via Greenwich Ave or from the back where there is parking in the municipal lot behind CVS.
The most popular lobster roll is the award winning “Coastal,” which features hot, buttered lobster, topped with a dash of the Captain’s Pinch on a perfectly toasted bun.
Also popular is the “Heat Wave,” which is a hot lobster dressed with Serrano and Habanero pepper infused butter and accented with a dash of the Captain’s Pinch and served in a toasted bun.
The Lobster BLT features hot buttered lobster, bacon, romaine lettuce and deiced garden tomatoes – with a dash of the Captain’s Pinch and all topped with LobsterCraft’s custom garlic aioli and served on a perfectly toasted roll.
The Surf and Turf starts with a perfectly toasted roll, piled with sweet claw and knuckle lobster meat and seasoned with the “Captain’s Pinch,” and topped with marinated flank steak and finished with dollops of garlic aioli.
The Dirty Maynard” features knuckle and claw lobster meat, garnished with farm fresh onions, carrots, and celery on a bed of lettuce, dressed in seasoned mayonnaise, and on top of our signature toasted roll.
The “California” is lobster drizzled with LobsterCraft’s house-made wasabi soy sauce instead of butter and garnished with thinly sliced cucumber and avocado – all served atop a toasted split top roll.
Having a hard time choosing? Sample three varieties with the slider sampler “Flight of the Sliders” with one Mini Coastal, one Mini Heat Wave, and one Mini Dirty Maynard.
Beyond lobster roll varieties, options include lobster bisque, clam chowder, fries and lobster mac ‘n cheese.
LobsterCraft also caters private parties and corporate events. Or schedule a food truck visit to your privateparty.
LobsterCraft is located on the second floor of 107 Greenwich Ave on the second floor. Dine in, or take out. It is possible to order online or call for pickup or delivery.
