In mid August the Putnam Restaurant at 373 Greenwich Avenue closed temporarily after the DPW division of building inspection declared the building dangerous and unsafe.
In an email, Putnam Restaurant chef Javier Sanchez said the situation has been remedied and the family owned restaurant is set to reopen on Wednesday.
“Rise and shine, Greenwich—the wait is officially over and our kitchen is firing back up!” chef Sanchez said.
The restaurant will reopen on Wednesday, Sept 2 at 7:00am sharp.
“We have missed serving our community on the Avenue, and our team cannot wait to welcome you back to your favorite booths. Whether you’re stopping by for a fresh cup of coffee, a hearty breakfast sandwich, or a classic comfort food lunch, we are ready to feed you well,” chef Sanchez added.
“Thank you all for your incredible patience, loyalty, and support. We can’t wait to see you bright and early this Wednesday.”
The Nikas family has run the restaurant for decades. They’re open 365 days a year, including Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The old-school, vintage diner is a local staple. The diner features counter seating and classic cozy booths. They offer classic comfort food and all-day breakfast (omelettes, pancakes, eggs Benedict). Also, there are daily soups and specials and many with Greek influence made by the head chef.
