LETTER: Senator Kasser is a Gun Sense Candidate

Submitted by Jennifer Barro, Greenwich Local Group Lead, Moms Demand Action

It makes a difference for our safety who is representing us in Hartford. That is why I am supporting Senator Alex Kasser for re-election to State Senate in the 36th District. Senator Kasser has earned a Gun Sense Candidate Distinction from Moms Demand Action.

We are fortunate to live in a state with some of the strongest gun laws in the nation. But still, in an average year, 184 Connecticut residents die due to guns and someone dies by gun suicide about every three days. Too many families and communities are impacted by gun violence, as happened recently in Stamford where tragically a 35-year-old mother was killed and two others were wounded.

We made progress in Connecticut in 2019, due to advocacy from Senator Kasser and many of her colleagues, with passage of three common sense gun laws. However, there is more work to do around modernizing our red flag law and supporting proven gun violence intervention programs, such as Project Longevity.

Senator Kasser has demonstrated that she committed to ending gun violence and to making our communities safer and that is why she has my support. Please join me and millions of Americans by being a gun sense voter in this election.
