Campers at Greenwich Audubon Center’s Summer Nature Camp explore nature in a fun, safe environment within our nature sanctuary. Audubon camp fosters curiosity through outdoor discovery that helps campers develop an understanding of the natural world. These experiences and adventures will grow into a lifelong appreciation for our environment. Our camp days are filled with a variety of activities—including hiking, pond and stream exploration, crafts, nature-themed games, animal interactions, and birding.

Campers can join our Explorers (age 5-7) and our Adventurers (age 8-11) for single week sessions or multi-week blocks! Each block starts with “The Birds are Back in Town” which focuses on ecosystems and animal families, followed by “Hawk Days of Summer,” where we learn about climate change and the summer heat, and finally finish with “The Birds are Back in Town,” featuring the upcoming fall season and how animals, especially birds, get ready to migrate for winter!

New this year: We are excited to announce our final week of camp (August 19 – 23) will feature a unique theme: Nature Detectives!

Join us for nature experiments, learn how to interpret the natural world around us, and take a deep dive into what it means to be a naturalist!

Tod’s Point Sailing School

The historic Chimes Building at Greenwich Point in Old Greenwich has been a storied home to community sailing programs for generations of Greenwich residents. In earlier times it has operated under the stewardship of The Young Mariners, the Parks and Recreation Department, the Old Greenwich Yacht Club, Greenwich Community Sailing, and today by the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Tod’s Point Sailing School.

Tod’s Point Sailing School’s mission is to engage people of all ages in the joy of sailing and to offer our community affordable access to Long Island Sound. Our U.S. Sailing certified instructors teach enduring sailing and boating skills along with a deep respect for the marine environment with priority on safety and fun. Boat rentals are available every day all season long providing everyone with the opportunity to continue sailing and mastering sailing skills.

Tod’s Point Sailing School operates daily Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.

Junior Programs – Core Courses

The Core Curriculum is the gold standard in learn-to-sail programming. It is what Tod’s Point Sailing is known for. Core courses fill quickly. It is where juniors truly learn to sail. Properly. Safely. Thoroughly. Hands-on. It is for ages 9-16. Most juniors spread out their coursework over 2 or 3 seasons.

The Core is comprised of 4 progressive 2-week courses. All courses are repeated every two weeks throughout the summer, so juniors may start in any session. They may also take a break between courses and enroll in the next level course in any later session – or in any following season. Just take the Core courses in order, because each course is a prerequisite to the next. Core courses meet Monday through Friday, 3 hours per day, for a total of 30 hours each.

Junior Programs – Just for Fun Courses

The Just for Fun Courses are one-week long each. They meet daily, Monday through Friday. They are more “camp-like” in that there is no reading, no exam, no diploma, and very little classroom time. They are almost entirely hands-on.

Just for Fun Courses run the gamut from the entry level Tera Bites course for 8-year-olds, to the high-performance Racing Techniques Course – where the coveted “Tod’s Point Cup” perpetual trophy is awarded. It is the Junior Program’s highest honor. There is something for everyone in the Just for Fun curriculum – even for non-sailors. The sailing school maintains a sizable fleet of kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, as well as sailboats. Captains Harbor and Greenwich Cove are well-protected and are a popular paddle-sports venue.

Adult Programs Too

The Adult Curriculum offers Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Core courses along with Introduction to Catamarans and Introduction to Paddling which includes both kayaking and stand up paddleboarding. Most Adult classes are held on weekends but we also offer a weekday program for adults with busy weekend schedules.

Private Lessons

Private Lessons are available for Juniors and Adults that may wish to try sailing or
paddling before signing up for a course or just to refresh skills from past sailing experience. Private lessons, call ahead 203-637-2022.
