Cichy: “United-RTC”?

Submitted by Blazej Cichy, RTC Candidate from Cos Cob (District 8)

“United-RTC”?

Please, educate me, as I am new to this game.

Why two competing slates, and why so much bad blood between them; particularly from the “United” camp, attacking current RTC leadership and those affiliated with them?

It reminds me a bit of our campaign for the RTM last fall, when Republican candidates, as well as those unaffiliated – truly nonpartisan – who just happen to share the same values, were openly attacked and called “extremists” by Democrats.

I was embarrassed my kids had to experience that first hand on Election Day in front of Central Middle School, where they were giving out their freshly baked brownies to voters, thanking them for coming out to vote – my idea of getting them involved and educated as future voting citizens. Are you the “extremist”, daddy, they asked me? This was clearly what the banner above the opposite table implied. “Not that I know of”, I replied.

I thought I was there to get positively involved in the civic process in town; to simply give back some of my time, skills, and effort, to my Cos Cob community, which I have called home for the past 17+ years (the longest time I have ever lived in one place).

My current run for the RTC is built on the same foundation; to contribute and to give back. I believe working together is the best way to overcome challenges and accomplish complicated tasks. I do not believe name-calling should be part of this process. I have not seen this behavior from the current RTC leadership. On the contrary, I see their constant effort to truly unite Republicans in this town on the only applicable basis; those of Republican values and beliefs in liberty, economic prosperity, preserving American values and traditions, and restoring the American dream for every citizen of this great nation.

Respectfully,

Blazej Cichy, RTC Candidate from Cos Cob (District 8)
