Meet Roxy, just a puppy herself at about one year old, she was picked up by police in New York City who found her abandoned on the street, emaciated and nursing two puppies.
Police brought Roxy and her 5-week-old puppies to the city animal control center. Fortunately for the three of them, Tina Aronson of Cat Assistance pulled them from the city shelter and is fostering them here in Greenwich.
The puppies, Pixie and Tessa, will be ready to go to permanent homes at 8 or 9 weeks, but Tina is accepting applications now. She said the puppies will be easy to place, but pointed out that their mamma, Roxy, may not be as easy to place because she looks like an adult at a year old, though she is really still a puppy herself.
Tina describes Roxy as is one of the of the most playful, sweet and joyful dogs she’s met — and she has met many. She is a blue and white, stocky pocket pittie.
“She is not mouthy at all,” Tina said. “This dog would definitely be good in a home with children.”
Though she is emaciated from her ordeal, dumped on the streets with puppies, Roxy’s attitude has not suffered and Tina estimates she’ll weigh 50 lbs when she’s back to normal weight.
