Community Rallies to Support Freccia Bros Garage after Eviction Ruling

Freccia Bros Garage has operated in Greenwich since 1922, starting as a repair shop for carriages in the horse and buggy era and later pivoting to cars. In the 50’s there was an active used car sales business. In the 60s, Freccia Bros Garage started working on Volkswagens and never looked back. Eversource Partners with Historic Salisbury Church to Achieve Near Net-Zero Carbon Footprint

As a result of these upgrades, the church has completely eliminated its reliance on fossil fuels and is expected to see an estimated 11,800 kWh in annual electricity savings, as well as a lifetime reduction of over 400 metric tons of CO2 emissions – equivalent to removing the greenhouse gases produced by an average gasoline-powered vehicle driving over 1 million miles.  The upgrades were completed in close collaboration with the town’s Historic District Commission to integrate the new technology while preserving the building’s architectural significance. Greenwich Audubon Marks Completed Restoration of Historic Zebediah Mead House c. 1746

Mead House was built in 1746 and owned by Zebediah Mead, a member of this “founding family” of Greenwich. It was gifted to the National Audubon Society for use in the organization’s education and conservation work as part of a larger parcel that would, in 1943, become the Greenwich Audubon Center.
