The weather could not have been nicer for the 16th Valley Jam on Saturday, which coincided with the last day of summer. The free event was organized by the Pemberwick-Glenville Association.
PGA chair Andrea Blume said the event’s success reflected the generosity of donors and sponsors, and it appeared there were more people than in previous years.
“This is a volunteer run event,” Blume said. “Ten people put it together and it gets bigger and better every year.”
In addition to kids crafts, bracelet making and the Big Kahuna slide, new this year was a water filled dunk tank, which was a hit among friends and families who took turns dunking each other, as well as First Selectman Fred Camillo and State Senator Ryan Fazio.
Raffle tickets for prizes from local businesses were popular along with t-shirts with everyone’s favorite Valley Jam happy logo.
A beautiful fall-themed photo wall was available, courtesy of Arch in Bloom. Greenwich Scouting, Audubon Greenwich and Girl Scouts also had tents at the event.
Food trucks included Neil’s on Wheels, Good Humor and Japanese food truck El Shu Maru.
The slide and dunk tank were from Air Ryderz in Port Chester.
And while many people spread out beach blankets to relax and listen to the live music, others danced to the hits.
The lineup included Bennie Rose Sings Taylor Swift, the Sun Kings Beatles Tribute, Category 5, and School of Rock, who played Metallica, per last year’s request.
