Second Annual Community Cleanup Announced: Saturday, March 18 at Greenwich High School

The second annual community cleanup will take place on Saturday, March 18 from 2:00-4:00pm (Rain date is March 19).

Help clean up litter to protect the environment. Community service hours will be provided for students. Adults are welcome to help.

“This is an event that everyone can contribute to,” said GHS sophomore Thomas McKinney who is organizing the event, and previously organized one at Central Middle School. “After all, anyone can chip in to help protect the environment, not just kids.”

Thomas said what while the primary clean up location and hub of the event is the GHS campus, some people might fan out.

“Last year, I had one group check Cos Cob School then come back, which helped with reducing saturation in one place,” he said. “As long as they return to GHS before the end of the event, especially to return buckets.”

“I was very happy to see the collaboration that sprouted from hosting a cleanup last year,” Thomas said. “It’s really inspiring and motivating to see how many people can work together as a community to help pick up the litter around the town.”
