The Greenwich Road Runners worked with Greenwich Parks & Rec and sponsor First County Bank to hold the inaugural Father’s Day Run on Friday evening at Tod’s Point. The event featured a 5K Race that looped around the park twice, incorporating views of Long Island Sound. There was also a one-mile fun run. The sunset was glorious and the temps were cooling down after a hot day.
The event drew people of all ages and some parents ran with their children, marking the first in a series of Greenwich Road Runners events for 2022, including an event in July and a holiday fun run in early December.
The event sponsor was First County Bank and Richard Muskus and Trip Moore were on hand to cheer on the runners. Ric Wellington of Greenwich Road Runners presented medals to the top finishers and Chris Cavin took photos.
Proceeds benefited the Greenwich Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund, which provides Greenwich youth access to programs including summer camps.
Greenwich Road Runners is a community based running group started in 2015 by a small group of runners just looking for people to run with. The group has since blossomed into an over 75 member 501c3 organization affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America.
The group now hosts multiple weekly group runs throughout the Greenwich community and a special monthly run sponsored by Athleta starting at their store front on Greenwich Ave.
